Passionate in making sure that each patient receives the very best in dermatologic care, Dr. Chaker's practice philosophy involves developing a strong relationship with each patient in an atmosphere of courtesy and respect. Dr. Chaker and his team are dedicated to creating an environment in which each individual can feel comfortable, informed, and welcomed throughout the entire treatment process so that they may enjoy optimal skin health.
Dr. M Basem Chaker, MD
Board Certified Dermatologist & Owner of Dermatology Southwest
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Chaker earned his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of Damascus University in 1981. He then completed his residency in dermatology and dermatopathology fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical School. After that, he joined the faculty at UT Southwestern as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology. During this time, he also served as Staff Dermatologist for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center of Dallas.
In addition to co-authoring a dermatology chapter in family practice textbooks and having published several articles in medical journals, Dr. Chaker is board-certified in dermatology and dermatopathology by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is one of the 24 medical specialty boards comprising the American Board of Medical Specialities (ABMS).
During his free time, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, traveling, and listening to music!

Dr. Kenda Chaker, DNP, APRN, FNP-C
Nurse Practioner
Dr. Kenda Chaker graduated with her doctorate from Texas Christian University in May 2024. Kenda additionally received a degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology and Spanish for the Health Professions and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. With working experience in adult ICU and pediatrics, she has a diverse background in nursing. She understands and is very passionate about the importance of providing health education and empowering patients in a manner that adapts to all health literacies. She is excited to be a part of Dermatology Southwest.
She enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking outdoors, and visiting coffee shops on weekends.
